Our Mission

Perspectives Group aims to support our clients’ neurocognitive and educational needs through individualized and system support; we address an expansive range of concerns related to information processing or productivity.

A word from our director, Dr. Karolina Claxton…

At its core, our work improves the information processing system, the way the brain attends to inputs, and the ways in which we engage with the brain’s primitive instincts as we try to retain and recall information. We specialize in neurocognitive profiles that do not fit neatly into diagnostic categories; many people experience features of defined disorders yet possess strengths that may be atypical of those profiles. Often their environmental demands are suited to their strengths but leave little space for their weaknesses. We work with children as young as six years old, but we are one of the only educational groups that serves adult needs. Our adult clients include young people who have struggled to succeed in college as well as mid-life adults struggling with the impact of learning or executive weaknesses or seeking strategies to pass professional exams. Our adult clients include young people who have struggled to succeed in college, as well as midlife adults struggling to pass professional exams due to their learning differences. We design the goals of our work with every client’s next steps and in mind. In addition to the most immediate needs that send our clients to us, we also monitor and address their level of preparation for a globalized economy. In addition to managing the demands of tests, research papers, and life balance “in the now,” people of all ages need to develop an understanding of self, as well as the skills of self-regulation and decision-making necessary to compete in the 21st-century workforce. Please feel free to reach out. We’d be happy to hear from you.

What we do…

Educational Therapy

We introduce students to resources, tools, strategies, and systems they can use to organize and manage their time, ideas, and materials, but more significantly, we help clients change their approach to school.

Adult Educational Therapy

Educational therapy for adults who are studying for professional exams, struggling with executive functioning or productivity in work or managing home life.

Cognitive Rehabilitation

Rebuild cognitive and executive functioning skills following a brain injury, gap in psychological stimulation, or just fine-tune and sharpen existing skills.

Workshops

Workshops use an interactive problem-based approach to break topics and their applications into manageable action steps.

Skills Groups

Skills groups target specific common goals and work towards achieving them in a small, collaborative group setting.

Treatment Consultation

For some more severe cases, whether we do ET or not, we work as case carriers, consultants, coordinators of care, can train team members in a client’s profile and needs, and more.
